The Tale of the 2 Wives & the Washer

Sometimes God has us waiting for a reason, so all you have to do is trust God's plan. Never bargain, never rush, and never do things on your own.

This good tale will explain how critical it is to wait on God's timing. This is the story of the two wives and the washer. Both wives were neighbors and both wives had a laundry room in their basement. And both wives had a washer that was very old and falling apart.

The first wife asked her husband for a new washer because her last load was ruined. He answered, "not now but one day I will give you a new washer." She responds "okay, I'll try to work with the washer until then." You see, money was tight for both families as well.

The second wife became angry with how her washer destroyed her last load and scorned her husband, "I need a new washer now!" Her husband answered, "just make do, we can't afford one right now." She scoffed at him.

Days go by and the first wife continued to wash her laundry with that ratty old washer. She became creative and innovative with ways to preserve her washer. When the door was hanging off she used duct tape to hold it up. When the turn knobs broke off she hot glued them back onto the washer. Sometimes, she had to hand wash the clothes with stains in the sink before transferring them to the washer. She worked hard and later asked God for a new washer during her nightly prayer.

The second wife grew impatience with the waiting and she began to sabotage her washer to make her husband purchase a new one quickly. She broke the door down and pulled the knobs off. She even poured extra stains on her husband's shirts and complained that the washer was so old that it couldn't clean the clothes anymore. She prayed to God for a new husband when he declined her wishes for a new washer.

One day the second wife got her wish (no, not a new husband... a new washer). She was so excited about it and she bragged all over town "how God finally came to his sense and granted her wishes." Her husband explained that this washer better last long because it took up all of their savings. The first wife heard of this and asked God once more for a breakthrough, so that her household will be sufficient and that her husband could afford a new washer. God heard her prayers.

One night there was a strong and mighty storm that brought a great flood into the town and all basements in the neighborhood were flooded after the storm. The wives cried at how bad the damage was to their homes.

Weeks later the first wife received the shock of her life, her husband and his friends joined together to build her a new laundry room with a new washer and dryer set. The basement was completely redone and upgraded. It was like a new house altogether. And the best part, their savings did not diminish, for the neighbors pitched in their share into the project. God had not only answered her prayer for a new washer, but he gave her more than what she asked for.

The second wife was saddened that her new shiny washer was already damaged just like the first washer. She dropped her head and asked her for a new washer. He answered, "if we had waited a few more weeks maybe just maybe we would have been blessed as our neighbor was" She dropped to her knees and began to cry out to God. That day she learned her lesson, to never bargain, rush, or take things into her own hands as God always has something better than we imagined for us.

My Brethren, your waiting is for a reason
Be patient with God!

Plan G

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV Remember when we played the game "MASH" as kids or when we began to frivolously draft out our life plans before our eighteenth birthday? Our plans looked something like this.....College at 18, married by 21, stable career by 22, and kids by 23. Well, my life plans were something along those lines. But, did that happen..? Yes and no; allow me to explain. Yes, I went to college but not as I expected. My college experience was unique and rewarding to my benefit. I graduated at 23 with two degrees under my belt. And what about marriage and kids... well, not yet but I'm praying every day for my readiness and maturity for that.  I'm sure you're reading this and thinking geez, her life didn't go as planned and you're right. It wasn't my plan, it was God's plan and purpose for my life. For ...

Move In Silence

M-I-S, so that you won't "miss" your opportunity! When working on things and creating ideas, we are often excited to share the great news from the mountain tops. Granted, there is nothing wrong with being proud of your works nor is there wrong with wanting to share them with your circle. But we have to be mindful of the idea that not everyone is celebrating with you. Have you ever had a brilliant idea or exciting new thing happen in your life and you immediately shared it via social media or by word-of-mouth? Remember, how you had one or more persons who said some hurtful things or how when these got hard, you felt too embarrassed to mention it out of fear of more judgment? We have all experienced this at some point in our lives and it sucks. You should be able to share the news about a new relationship, job opportunity, baby, business idea, etc. But face it, we all have enemies plotting against us in jealousy.  How do you avoid missing your unique and wonder...

Wear Your Shoes, Walk Your Own Journey

1 Corinthians 3:7-9 NIV " So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God's service; you are God's field, God's building. "   You have your own purpose in Christ, never try to wear the shoes or walk the journey of someone else.  Remember that infamous children story of Goldielocks and the 3 bears? For there was a house with three bowls of porridge, three chairs, and three beds. Divided into three portions; the papa bear, mama bear and baby bear portions. Goldie, tried out the papa and mama bears porridge, chairs and bed only to find out that it was never meant for her but only the baby bear's things were a perfect fit for her.  The whole premise of the story is to teach children to never take or settle for something that is not for you (granted ne...
