A seed in the dirt is weary and agitated about the soil in which he lives in currently. I want out the seed cries, but the gardener responds "no, not yet." The seed continues to cry out for a new change of scenery but the gardener continues to do his labor. One day, the seed begins to become tired and stopped his crying. "Okay, I'll trust you'll give me a purpose, but I'm tired of fighting against you." The gardener smiled and continued to do his labor. Weeks go by and the little seed began to sprout. Finally, the seed was seeing some changes. Later on, the seed was sprouting roots in solid ground, and it began to grow upward to the sky. Small he was, but vast he grew bearing many fruits and branches. The seed grew into a big and mighty tree and he remembered the gardener that was near him. "What are you doing?" The tree asked. "I'm watering the seeds" the gardener answered. "Why? Asked the tree.
The gardener smiled and replied because this seed wants out of the dirt, so I'm showering them with love, so that they may grow."
Like the seed in the dirt, we are often troubled by the present situation that we are sitting in. We begin to become frustrated or anxious about feeling stuck in the same old, same old. We're constantly crying out to God "when, when will I shine; heal, or grow?
Sometimes, we're hoping and waiting for a promotion at work, a new relationship, or a breakthrough in our mental health. Whatever the case may be, we tend to get weary or upset when our spirit seems to be trodden down by our timelines, expectations, or goals that we're living by. For us, a thousand years is one day for God. And no, I'm not saying that we will have to wait a thousand years to feel unstuck or fulfilled in our lives.
We all want to feel like the things we do have a purpose and we want to glorify God in everything that we do. But, our seasons of stillness, rest, waiting or silence seem like a scary concept for folks that are used to noisy and busy lives. We often hate it when God tells us to "be still" or "wait." To us, it's like when a parent tells their child to go take a nap, and that child fights tooth and nail against the nap. God wants us to take our naps for a reason. He wants us to be rested and refreshed, and to allow ourselves time for him to work.
And when God is working on us, he is putting all of his might and power into our transformation. God, wants us to be a strong and mighty fruit-bearing tree when he is watering us. He could have stopped when we were sprouting but because he loves us, and he wants us to be successful in our lives. He will tend to us with love- all he needs is our faith, obedience, and gratitude.
Brethren, you are a seed waiting to blossom. You are not stuck in the dirt nor will you stay there long. God is watering you!
